Communication and social interactions are the basic features of any community centered police which are used in face of problems, crime, and abnormalities. It is clear that the police cannot prevent the crime and do increase the safety of the community without the cooperation and participation of people, as well as the relationship with other organizations and institutions. Making connection plays important role to gain confidence and improve the satisfaction level of the people. Police stations can use the social participation, comments of the neighbors, members of the city council, board of trustees of mosques, clergies, academic boards of universities to know the security problems of their zone in order to be successful in establishing and maintaining security. This study aims to determine and classify the role of outer organizational interactions of police stations’ chiefs in crime prevention in Kermanshah (with an emphasis on verbal and non-verbal communication skills). In this descriptive –analytic study, 384 participants selected from among police stations’ chiefs, heads and members of official organizations (e.g. Education Departments, Municipality, Provincial Governor, Judiciary, etc) and informal ones (e.g. Associations, Societies, Foundations, City Councils, Networks, and Companies) based on cluster sampling. Then, collected data were analyzed through Pearson product correlation, Kendall, and regression test. Findings reveal that there is a significant relationship between the communication skills of police station’s chiefs (vernal and nonverbal, formal and informal) and outer organizational interactions in crime prevention. Furthermore, Kendall test reveals that verbal communication skills (1.23), formal interactions (2.58), nonverbal communication skills (3.41), and informal interactions (5.00) have the lowest mean score, respectively. Thus, it is concluded that informal organizations show more interesting to communicate with police for crime prevention |
